If you remember all the way back to 1990, we were handed a rather inferior sequel to the surprise Arnold Schwarzenegger blockbuster, Predator. Whereas the original started as a military flick which cleverly morphed into a science fiction thriller, number 2 had no such surprises. Set in Los Angeles during the middle of a gang war, there should’ve been some opportunities to compare the human predator to the alien one. But alas, the film really didn't reach that level of irony.
Regardless, I can say I’ve enjoyed this action figure much more than the movie on which it was based. Based? Well, maybe that’s the wrong word? Perhaps “inspired” is better as this figure, as lovely as it is, really had little to do with Predators 2. Called the Battle Armor Lost Predator, it is described on the packaging as being one of the “Lost Hunters, a clan shrouded in mystery, travelers through both time and space…” Apparently they’re so shrouded in mystery even the toy maker doesn’t know enough about them to give us a proper paragraph of description about the toy. Regardless, the figure is based on an individual we glimpse oh-so-briefly at the end of the film, one who was notable for his green skin and high-tech battle armor. (If you want an almost ridiculous amount of background information on this fellow, check out this article from the Nerdist website.)
