In the 1950s, Lee's Ferry was an isolated U.S. Geological Survey outpost located at the confluence of the Colorado and Paria Rivers at the mouth of the Grand Canyon. Few government employees wanted the post, but for the Dean and Edna Tidball, the ferry was the fulfillment of a long-held dream to live like latter-day pioneers. The River Years is my mother's firsthand account of her parents' neo-bohemian adventure and how it crashed headlong into the realities of the Atomic Age. Fully illustrated with photographs.
